ARTICLE 3. Eligibility To Touch Legal Forward Pass
a. Eligibility rules apply during a down when a legal forward pass is thrown.
有資格レシーバーの規則は、正当なフォワード パスが投げられたダウンに適用される。
b. All Team B players are eligible to touch or catch a pass.
Bチームのすべてのプレーヤーは、パスにタッチまたはキャッチする資格がある。
c. When the ball is snapped, the following Team A players are eligible:
ボールがスナップされたとき、以下にあげるAチームのプレーヤーが有資格プレーヤーである：
1. Each lineman who is on the end of their scrimmage line and who is wearing a number other than 50 through 79.
スクリメージ ラインの端の位置におり50～79以外の番号を付けているラインマン。
2. Each back wearing a number other than 50 through 79.
50～79以外の番号を付けているバック。
d. An eligible player loses their eligibility when the player goes out of bounds.

チームおよびプレーヤーの呼称
ARTICLE 1. Teams A and B
Team A is the team that is designated to put the ball in play, and Team B is the opponent. The teams retain these designations until the ball is next ready for play.
Aチームとは、ボールをプレーに移すチームを指し、Bチームとは、その相手チームを指す。これらの呼称は次にボールがレディフォープレーとなるまで維持される。
ARTICLE 4. Lineman and Back
a. Lineman.
1. A lineman is any Team A player legally on their scrimmage line (Rule2-21-2).
ラインマンとは、自己のスクリメージライン上に正当に位置するAチームのプレーヤーのことである。（参照：2−21−2）
2. A Team A player is legally on the scrimmage line when facing their opponent’s goal line with the line of their shoulders approximately parallel thereto and either (a) they are the snapper (Rule 2-27-8) or (b) their head breaks the plane of the line drawn through the waistline of the snapper.
Aチームのプレーヤーで、両肩を通る線が相手側ゴール ラインに向いてほぼ平行であり、かつ（a）自身がスナッパー（参照：2−27−8）であるか、あるいは（b）自身の頭がスナッパーの腰（ベルトの線）を通る垂直面より前方の場合、このプレーヤーを「正当にスクリメージライン上にいる」という。
b. Interior Lineman. An interior lineman is a lineman who is not on the end of their scrimmage line.
インテリア ラインマン：インテリアラインマンとは、スクリメージライン上の両端にいないラインマンのことである。
c. Restricted Lineman. A restricted lineman is any interior lineman, or any lineman wearing a number 50-79, whose hand(s) are below the knees.
制限を受けるラインマン：制限を受けるラインマンとは、インテリア ラインマンまたは50～79の番号を付けているラインマンで、膝より下へ手を降ろしたプレーヤーのことである。
d. Back.
1. A back is any Team A player who is not a lineman and whose head or shoulder does not break the plane of the line drawn through the waistline of the nearest Team A lineman.
バックとはラインマン以外のAチームのプレーヤーで、自分に最も近いAチームのラインマンの腰（ベルトの線）を通る垂直面より自身の頭や肩が後方にあるプレーヤーのことである。
2. A back is also the player in position to receive a hand-to-hand snap.
手渡しでスナップを受け取る位置にいるプレーヤーもバックである。
3. A lineman becomes a back before the snap when they move to a position as a back and stops.
ラインマンは、スナップ前にバックとしての位置に移動し静止したときに、バックになる。
