ARTICLE 7.Line-to-Gain and Down Indicators
第7条 シリーズ獲得線標示器（ヤードチェーン），ダウン標示器

The official line-to-gain (yardage chain) and down indicators shall be operated approximately six feet outside the sideline except in stadiums where the total playing enclosure does not permit. These must be operated on the side of the field opposite the press box.
公式のシリーズ獲得線標示器（ヤードチェーン）とダウン標示器を，フィールド全体の大きさにより不可能なグラウンドを除き，サイドラインの外側約6フィート（1.83m）で使用する。公式のシリーズ獲得線標示器とダウン標示器は，プレスボックスの反対側のフィールドで操作されなければならない。

a. The yardage chain shall join two rods not fewer than 5 feet high, the rods’ inside edges being exactly 10 yards apart when the chain is fully extended.
ヤードチェーンは，高さ5フィート（1.52m）以上の2 本の棒につなぎ，チェーンを完全に伸ばしたときの2 本の棒の内側の長さは，正確に10ヤード（9.14m）でなければならない。

b. The down indicator shall be mounted on a rod not fewer than 5 feet high operating approximately six feet outside the sideline opposite the press box.
ダウン標示器は，高さ5フィート（1.52m）以上の捧の上に取り付けられ，プレスボックスと反対側のサイドラインの外側約6フィート（1.83m）で使用される。

c. An unofficial auxiliary line-to-gain indicator and an unofficial down indicator six feet outside the other sideline are recommended.
非公式のシリーズ獲得線標示器と非公式のダウン標示器を，もう一方のサイドラインの6フィート（1.83m）外側で使用することが望ましい。

d. Unofficial red or orange nonslip line-to-gain ground markers positioned off the sidelines on both sides of the field are recommended. Markers are rectangular, weighted material 10 inches by 32 inches. A triangle with an altitude of 5 inches is attached to the rectangle at the end toward the sideline.
フィールドの両サイドラインの外側に，赤またはオレンジ色のすべりにくい非公式なシリーズ獲得線マーカーを用いることが望ましい。マーカーは10インチ×32インチ（25cm×81cm）の重みのある長方形のもので，サイドライン方向に高さ5インチ（13cm）の三角形を付けたものである。

e. All line-to-gain and down-indicator rods shall have flat ends.
すべてのシリーズ獲得線標示器とダウン標示器の棒の先端は，平らでなければならない。

f. Advertising is prohibited on the down and line-to-gain indicators. One manufacturer’s logo or trademark is permitted on each indicator. Institutional and conference logos are allowed.
ダウン標示器およびシリーズ獲得線標示器に広告を表示してはならない。ただし，それぞれの標示器には製造業者のロゴまたは商標を1つだけ付けてよい。チームや競技団体のロゴを付けてもよい。

ARTICLE 2. Line to Gainシリーズ獲得線
a. The line to gain for a series shall be established 10 yards in advance of the most forward point of the ball; but if this line is in the opponent’s end zone, the goal line becomes the line to gain.
シリーズ獲得線は，ボールの最先端を基準にしてその前方10ヤード（9.14m）とする。

しかし，それが相手側のエンドゾーンに入る場合は，ゴールラインがシリーズ獲得線となる。

b. The line to gain is established when the ball is made ready for play before the first down of the new series.
シリーズ獲得線は，新しいシリーズの第1ダウンのレディフォープレーが宣告されたときに設定される。
